Hail to the Punter in Chief

Making Sense By Michael Reagan

He may not be the fastest president on his feet we’ve ever had.

He may bore you to death compared to the last president.

But I will tell you, if anyone in the NFL is looking for a punter, Joe Biden is your man.

The president didn’t blow up or melt down at his first, much-anticipated and ultimately embarrassing formal presidential press conference.

But on Thursday he proved one thing with a doubt – he’s not America’s quarterback in chief.

He’s our punter in chief.

For a little over an hour President Biden ducked the mostly friendly questions of ten cherry-picked journalists and read large chunks of his answers on foreign policy from a briefing book.

He gave vague, garbled or outrageous answers about immigration, Afghanistan, China, voting rights and the filibuster that generated zero tough follow-ups from the liberal White House press corps.

He punted on how he was going to fix the immigration crisis he’s caused at the border.

He punted on what the United States should do about the economic and military threat of China and when he was going to get America out Afghanistan.

He punted on when his administration will allow the media and their cameras to get access to the overcrowded border facilities in Texas where thousands of illegal immigrants and unaccompanied migrant children await processing.

The only thing President Biden didn’t really punt on was killing the filibuster.

The “relic of the Jim Crow era” as he and its new enemies now call it, is the same parliamentary tool he supported for 40 years when he was a Senator.

It’s the same weapon his party used aggressively and often in the Senate during the Trump years when it was in the minority.

Chuck Schumer used it to – among many other things – block construction of the Wall, change the Cares Act and halt Sen. Tim Scott’s police reform bill.

But now “Wide-awoke” Joe and Schumer want to get rid of the filibuster so their party can ram “progressive” legislation through Congress that will change the United States forever.

No member of the White House press cheerleading squad had the courage to remind Biden about that eulogy he gave for his beloved colleague, Sen. Robert Byrd, the former KKK member who was a star on the Democrat Party’s team of racist Southern senators who filibustered the 1964 Civil Rights bill.

Meanwhile, talk about softballs tossed underhand by little league journalists.

PBS White House reporter Yamiche Alcindor prefaced her blatant pitch for ending the filibuster by referring to Biden as “a moral and decent” man.

There were no questions at all about the COVID-19 pandemic or vaccines or gun control.

And though Biden left many openings for follow-up questions by saying looney-tune things like President Trump sent migrant families back to Mexico to starve and a majority of Republicans support him, they were not asked.

Say whatever bad you want about Trump, he always called on his nemesis Jim Acosta of CNN and he wasn’t afraid to take questions from anyone.

And where Biden seemed to need a briefing book to answer many of the questions, none of his predecessors – Trump, Reagan, Bush 41, Clinton, Bush 43 and Obama – never did.

Besides punting whenever he was in doubt, Biden took half a dozen cheap shots at President Trump (he was among friends, so he knew he was safe).

Based on their friendly questions, the White House press corps showed that they haven’t exactly been working on their fastballs while President Biden was hiding from them for two months.

For instance, it should have made big headlines and sparked lots of follow-up questions when Biden went back on his campaign promise and said he expects to run again in 2024, but it didn’t.

The bottom line is, with those briefing books and basic punting skills, everyone who watched Biden’s press conference could have done the press conference too.

Biden Didn’t Need 100 days to Screw America

Making Sense By Michael Reagan

I can hardly wait to see how President Biden’s second 100 days in office go.

So far he’s ripped up Trump’s successful immigration policy by the roots, stopped work on the wall and created a super-crisis on the Southern border.

He and his masters in Congress are preparing to screw the rich and corporations with higher taxes on incomes and profits.

And because he stupidly agreed with George Stephanopoulos on TV that Vladimir Putin is “a killer,” Putin got mad and recalled Russia’s ambassador.

From day one, when he ordered the Keystone Pipeline to shut down, America’s first figurehead-in-chief has been a total disaster.

Conservatives keep calling the waves of illegal aliens pouring into Texas and swamping our holding facilities “a crisis.”

OK, but it’s exactly what the policies of Biden and immigration extremists invited.

Biden essentially told the illegal migrants and asylum seekers – “Don’t come now. We’re not ready yet. We don’t have enough cages – I mean facilities – for 10,000 unaccompanied kids and we’re still working on your free health care.”

Biden’s blunders at the border have enriched the drug cartels and human traffickers and opened the door for terrorists from around the world.

Besides absurdly blaming the recent immigration invasion on Donald Trump, Biden has spent his first sixty days in office diminishing the Trump administration’s vaccine miracle.

“Operation Warp Speed” cut away years of government red tape and got Big Pharma to produce hundreds of millions of doses in record time.

But Biden is taking credit for the vaccine like he and Kamala whipped it up last summer in his basement bunker.

You know what Biden’s biggest accomplishment in the war against Covid-19 is so far?

Calling up Moderna and Pfizer and saying we need a couple hundred million more doses of your vaccines.

Meanwhile, what Biden said about Putin to Stephanopoulos was incredibly dumb, even for a president.

He obviously didn’t have a note card with the diplomatically correct answer printed on it in caps for him to read.

So, thinking on his feet, the president did some quick knee-jerk Democrat virtue-signaling: Because President Trump never called Putin a killer, Biden figured he had to.

What good did it do for the country for Biden to say Putin was a killer – even if he is one? No good at all.

Ronald Reagan got grief for calling the Soviet Union an “Evil Empire,” which it was.

But my father didn’t call Mikhail Gorbachev a killer – and FDR and Truman didn’t call Stalin a mass murderer — because once you do that, there’s no way you can sit down with the guy at a summit conference.

After five years the Democrats and half the liberal media still can’t let go of their twin devils, Putin and Russia.

Despite zero proof, they still act like Russian meddling in our elections was something new that Trump somehow invented to steal the White House from Hillary.

But anyone with a history book knows Moscow’s been spying on us and messing with our elections forever.

All countries do it to each other, even to their friends. It’s what governments do – and much worse.

During the Cold War our CIA used to kill foreign leaders and topple foreign governments until Congress told them they weren’t allowed to do it anymore.

Do Guatemala, Vietnam and Iran ring a bell? The Bay of Pigs?

What do people think America has been doing in Iraq and Afghanistan for two decades – handing out campaign flyers?

Biden’s not just a lousy diplomat. He’s lousy at history. Like so many these days, he apparently has forgotten a lot of the history he lived through and helped make.

It’s not “Killer” Putin and Russia he should be worrying about, it’s his buddy China.

That’s the Communist hellhole that’s been building up its military, destroying freedom in Hong Kong, spying on Americans, meddling in every corner of the world and putting Muslims in reeducation camps.

If he really thinks poor, weak Russia is still our greatest threat, Biden’s more out of touch than we knew.

Oprah Hugs the Royal Whiners

Making Sense By Michael Reagan

So what was the big point of Oprah’s “bombshell” interview?

Was it to watch Meghan Markle throw her husband’s family under the bus as a bunch of racists?

Was it to prove Meghan was woefully ill-prepared to marry into the British royal family?

Was it to prove she and Prince Harry were spoiled brats who wanted to keep all the pounds, perks and privileges of being royals without having to accept the responsibilities and hard work that goes with the job?

How about all of the above?

Meghan’s claim that she seriously considered suicide because of the racism she encountered and the constant attacks of bigoted tabloids, hit the UK media like an atom bomb.

British newspapers and TV are still going nuts trying to decide who the most evil characters or greatest victims are – the Sussexes or the royal family they chose to leave left behind.

Meghan shocked Oprah when she said certain unnamed members of the royal family had wondered how light or dark her unborn child Archie’s skin was likely to be.

Oprah immediately believed Meghan’s charge of royal racism, of course.

But why is it automatically racist for the royal family to wonder about the skin color of a baby that would be born to mixed-race parents?

When about 17 percent of America’s new marriages are between people of mixed races, as they are today, it’s a pretty common question.

For instance, my granddaughters are Latina. My family all hoped that they’d be born with the same beautiful olive-brown skin as my Latina daughter-in-law. Did that make us racists?

I don’t know which of the Whining Royals exposed themselves as the stupidest Sussex, Duchess Meghan or Prince Harry.

Mehan dated Harry for several years. Yet there she was on Oprah whining because Harry had to teach her how to curtsy in the back seat of a car on the way to her first meeting with the Queen.

It was a real tear-jerking moment, but I don’t buy it.

Meghan was a mid-30s-something actress from LA who never learned how to curtsy? My wife’s a farm girl from Nebraska and she knows how to curtsy.

Meghan had plenty of time before her marriage to study up on what is expected of British royalty, and how to address the Queen, but she apparently was too busy to even do a Google search.

Meanwhile, where was Harry? Playing strip pool in Vegas again? Couldn’t he have prepped Meghan a little sooner on how to meet the Queen?

Racism made the big headlines, but Meghan also whined to Oprah about how the couple has to pay for their own security and how her son Archie doesn’t have a royal title – without having a clue how the titles actually are given out.

And I’m sure Meghan made the 17 million Americans watching her interview weep when she spoke about the hardship of being cut off from financial support by the royal family while they live in their $10 million palace in Santa Barbara.

She and Harry will just have to scrape by on the reported $100 million production deal they signed last year with Netflix – a sweet deal Harry got only because he’s the Queen of England’s grandson.

Harry is most at fault in this Anglo-Brit soap opera because he apparently never explained to Meghan that being a royal is a real job with real responsibilities. It’s why they call it “The Firm.”

While he and Meghan were playing with Archie on the beach in Santa Barbara and hanging out on their neighbor Oprah’s patio, for instance, Harry’s father Charles and brother William were in London earning their royal keep by helping COVID-19 victims.

If you don’t want the job, I understand. Walk away. But don’t point fingers back at your family, call them names and whine.

Also, before the next British prince marries an American who hopes to be the Queen someday, he should at least make sure she watches a few seasons of “The Crown.”

Three Cheers for Texas

Making Sense By Michael Reagan

He wasn’t the first governor in the country to lift the mask mandate for his state.

North Dakota, Montana and Iowa have ended state-wide mask orders in recent weeks and progressive states like Florida and South Dakota never issued them in the first place.

But Gov. Greg Abbott did the country a huge favor this week when he announced that Texas was allowing all businesses in the state to reopen at full capacity on March 10.

It was a loud and bold signal to the whole country that it’s time to climb out of our basements, regain our freedoms and get back to “normal,” whatever that’s going to be.

The national media scolded Abbott for dropping the mask mandate and acted like he was a reckless mass murderer, of course.

Public health experts – who never fail to see a new surge of virus cases over the horizon – warned that it was too dangerous now to loosen up mask rules.

And President Biden, our pessimist-in-chief who sees no return to normal life by Christmas, accused Abbott of “Neanderthal Thinking.”

But Abbott decided that his Texans had suffered enough. The economic, social and public health costs of lockdowns and school closings were too high to continue.

Suicides and drug overdoses are up in Abbott’s state and across the country because of loneliness and the stress of lost jobs and lost businesses.

Young people across the country are depressed because they can’t be in school with their friends – or even play sports. And dating? That’s been virtually impossible for a year.

Meanwhile, the liberal national media who beat up on Abbott this week continue to fail the country every chance they get.

Despite the rapid introduction of the vaccine, the approach of herd immunity and the steep decline in positive COVID-19 tests, deaths and hospitalizations since Christmas, the media still applaud strict government mandates and continue to push panic and negativity.

What they should be doing instead is calling out the autocratic Blue State governors who look for any excuse to hold on to the emergency lockdown powers they’ve used to destroy thousands of small businesses and keep schools and sports venues closed for a year.

It’s an outrage how much petty tyranny governors like Gavin Newsom of California have gotten away with in the name of protecting public health.

It wasn’t until Newsom was threatened with a recall election that he backed off his strict edicts and began allowing 40 million Californians out of their basements.

Now he says there will be full attendance at the Dodgers home opener. What a difference 1.8 million signatures on a recall petition make.

If the liberal media had a shred of honesty, they should spend every day shaming the teacher unions for refusing to go back to work and denying the science that says the virus poses virtually no risk to them.

They also should be exposing the unreliable advice we’ve gotten for a year from the great Dr. Fauci, who’s now saying that even with the vaccine our economic and social lives may not return to normal until next March.

When March rolls around, you can bet he’ll have several bogus reasons why we should stretch the lockdowns and mask mandates through the 2022 elections.

The Democrats in Washington that Fauci serves so well want to continue to use COVID-19 to scare the country into accepting universal mail-in voting and giving them even more federal power.

For them it’s always about getting more power in DC and they don’t even try to hide the fact that they’re using the current crisis as a way to take it away from the states.

Gov. Abbott’s declaration of freedom for Texans came a little late. He made it about half a year after Gov. Ron DeSantis defied the lockdown lobby and freed up the people of Florida.

But Abbott got it right – and he set an example dozens of his fellow governors should follow ASAP.

So Far, Biden is All Gloom and No Sunshine

Making Sense By Michael Reagan

Say what you will about the personal and political failings of Donald Trump, at least he was an optimist.

Along with being a cheerleader for America, he talked positively, sometimes when he shouldn’t have, and he could always see the sunshine.

President Biden is the exact opposite.

In a month he has not said anything that has uplifted the spirits of a single American who’s not a member of the teachers union.

For Biden and the left-wingers he’s been appointing to his Cabinet, there’s no such thing as sunshine now or in our future, just pitch darkness and gloom.

They want to kill America’s energy independence and keep our school rooms empty of children until the teachers say it’s OK.

They want to prolong the strict COVID-19 lockdowns that have already wrecked huge swaths of our economy, wiped out most of the joy in our social lives and ruined the future for our kids and grandkids.

It’s really appalling how much damage we’ve already allowed our federal and state governments to inflict on us in the name of protecting public health.

It’s not just closing schools, restaurants, gyms and sports venues or restricting attendance at churches and synagogues.

We’ve got kids in kindergartens playing in their own 4-by-4-foot plastic cubes, and musicians in student orchestras practicing their instruments inside their own little green tents.

How can anyone with a gram of common sense see idiotic things like this and not conclude that the country has gone insane? No wonder suicides and drug ODs have spiked.

I’m especially surprised people in their 60s and 70s aren’t killing themselves by the thousands each day.

Until the pandemic arrived, for many aging Boomers traveling was their only fun.

After decades of hard work and saving, they looked forward each year to flying to Europe or going on cruise ships for two weeks, two months, even an entire year.

As my wife the travel agent can tell you, the cruise industry has been sunk by the war on Covid.

The CDC has made it virtually impossible for cruise companies to adapt their ships to its strict and constantly changing rules.

Meanwhile, in Washington, President Biden and Dr. Fauci continue to give us no good news and nothing to look forward to.

The rapid development and production of a vaccine for CVOID-19 – an absolute miracle – and the recent sharp drop in cases and deaths should be daily cause for joy and optimism.

Yet Biden and Fauci keep moving the goal posts back.

Now they tell us the vaccine won’t be enough to allow us to return to what life was like BC – Before COVID.

Fauci has basically said you can get 40 vaccine shots and wear 13 masks and you still should not visit your grandkids or you might die.

The president – our pessimist in chief – went on a CNN town hall and said we might be back to normal by Christmas.

Normal? Come on, man! America’s never going back to what it was before it became the Land of Lockdowns.

Too many businesses have died. Too many workers have lost their jobs. Too many public health rules and mandates have been issued.

Plus, the Democrats in charge of blue states and cities are never going to let “normal” return. They love the new powers that the war against COVID-19 has given them too much.

So, is there any good news from the Biden administration? A little ray of sunshine in the gloom?

I think I might have seen some this morning. A bunch of Democrats in Congress reportedly sent a letter to the president wanting him to give up sole authority over the nuclear codes.

That scared the heck out of me. I don’t know if it was the letter that scared me or the fact that some Democrats don’t think the president has the cognitive ability to be trusted with the codes.

Either way, the big question is, what do those Democrats know – and is it good news or bad news?

Thanks For Everything, Rush

Making Sense By Michael Reagan

His fans knew it was coming, but they were still crushed to hear the news that Rush Limbaugh had died.

His political enemies and the liberal mainstream media, on the other hand, fell all over themselves trying to see who could spit the most venom and hatred on his grave before he was even in it.

They called him names, misrepresented his personality and, in the end, succeeded only in betraying how little they had listened to his show during the last 30 years.

The bums who run the New York Times were ready with their Page 1 obituary.

It was a predictable hit job, a nasty editorial aimed at pleasing the Times’ liberal readership.

It was clearly written by someone who hated Rush’s conservative politics and didn’t appreciate or understand his humor, his irony, his mastery of the radio medium or his long-term appeal to millions of average Americans who did not live in Manhattan.

I prefer what Ben Domenech, the co-founder of The Federalist, wrote in the city’s honest paper, the New York Post.

“Limbaugh prevailed over his critics, not just because he was a once-in-a-lifetime talent, but because he was right about his favorite subject: America.

“There can be no conservatism confined to the intellectual or corporate set – you needed to trust the people, as Ronald Reagan understood. Limbaugh legitimized this impulse by treating the views of high ranked politicians and his everyday callers with the same level of respect.”

Rush’s success in the 1990s made it possible for many of us to get jobs in talk radio and allow our voices also to compete with the liberal TV networks and major print media.

When he burst upon the national scene in 1989 I was living in L.A. and commuting 262 miles roundtrip every day to do a local talk-show in San Diego.

I was on the verge of signing a new three-year contract when I arrived one Monday to do my show and was told I had been replaced by Rush.

Suddenly I found myself trying to figure out how to make a living and support my wife and two young kids. I didn’t want to become a bagger at a Ralph’s supermarket.

I took some guest gigs in Seattle and was offered a talk show job in Milwaukee. But being a California-born kid, moving to Milwaukee with my family was out of the question.

Anyway, in the dog-eat-dog world of radio, in three months I could just as easily be replaced by Rush again.

Realizing I had to do unto others before they did it unto me again, in 1990 I began putting together my own national talk show.

Our “national” talk show struggled to get off the launch pad, to say the least.

We had so little money, my first paycheck bounced and my “pay” ended up being a Green Bay Packer’s cap, which I still have.

To make the show sound bigger than it was, we faked calls from listeners.

Producers would go out to a payphone in the parking lot and call the show and say they were “Bob from San Diego” or “Sheila from Ohio.”

Ultimately my show got picked up by Premiere Radio Networks, the country’s largest syndication company, and I became its first long-form talk-show host on a roster that eventually would include giants like Rush, Sean Hannity and Dr. Laura.

Until I walked away in 2009, I ended up working in radio for 26 years. Nineteen years were with my nationally syndicated talk show, which was carried by nearly 300 stations.

I owe my talk-radio career to Rush. Without him blazing the trail and creating a new medium for conservatives, I don’t know where I would have ended up.

Many of the biggest names in conservative talk radio and TV today also owe their careers to him.

For three decades he showed so many of us the way. We talkers knew we were never going to be him, but he opened the door for us so we could try.

Thanks for that and everything else, Rush. RIP.

Impeaching Trump Again Was Almost as Dumb as Closing Schools

Making Sense By Michael Reagan

It’s not often that you can watch a major event playing out on the national stage and predict with certainty how it will end, but this week I have two.

The first is “The Impeachment of Donald Trump, Part 2.”

Like all sequels, it’s much worse than the original melodrama – which is really saying something.

But the ending of the Democrats’ second impeachment show trial – if it’s not over already – is as predictable as a Disney movie.

Everyone knows – even the most dishonest journalists in the liberal media – there’s no chance that our ex-president is going to be convicted by the Senate.

Everyone knows – even the always Constitutionally challenged Democrats – that it’s an unconstitutional waste of time to impeach a president who is, um, no longer president.

Everyone also knows it’s cheap political theater to charge Trump with inciting an insurrection at the Capitol on Jan. 6. Only CNN thinks “Trump Impeachment Trial, the Sequel” is prime-time news.

Did Donald Trump say and do a lot of dumb and wrong things? Absolutely.

But you can say that about a lot of politicians in both parties in Congress.

In fact, if you used Trump’s alleged “high crimes and misdemeanors” as the standard for impeaching a politician, there’d be no one left in Washington. They’d all be in jail.

So it’s safe to say in advance that Trump’s second impeachment will close with a whimper and the ex-president will go on his merry way.

The other outcome that’s entirely predictable this week is the bad things that will happen to our children if we don’t immediately open all of our public schools to in-class learning.

Unfortunately for the country, however, when it comes to reopening schools Democrats have played partisan politics for a year.

It was part of their strategy in 2020 to do everything they could to hurt President Trump politically, which is why Blue State governors and mayors foolishly kept schools closed even after most other countries re-opened them.

Now we have a new president who says he wants to open half of all schools by March 1- but for one day a week, not five, which is totally stupid.

In case you haven’t noticed, Democrats have been total hypocrites on the issue of school reopening.

When it comes to wearing masks, limiting the size of weddings and deciding who gets first dibs on the COVID-19 vaccine, they always like to say they’re just “following the science.”

That’s total BS, as any locked-down citizen of Gavin Newsom’s California can tell you.

But the only science Democrats have been consistently following on schools is science fiction.

They’ve actually been following the demands of the teacher unions, not the science that says opening schools would pose virtually no danger to the health of kids or teachers.

It’s the teachers that have fought the hardest to keep the schools closed. And Democrats will do whatever the teacher unions want, because that’s where so much of their political contributions and power comes from.

I’m lucky.

My two grandkids go to Catholic preschool and my daughter teaches at a Catholic grade school, where they’ve had a mix of Zoom classes and in-school learning for months.

But I feel really sorry for the Black and brown kids trapped in America’s failing inner-city public schools.

Their schools may be terrible, but they’re the kids being hurt the most by keeping schools closed.

They’re the ones whose poor and working-class parents can’t provide them with laptops, tutors or private schooling.

Three fourths of Black and Latino students in this country were unable to read or do math at their grade level – and that was before schools were closed last year.

Now our poorest kids – and middle-class kids too – have lost an entire year of learning and still the Democrats are kowtowing to the teacher unions by dragging out the process of reopening schools.

It’s not hard for me to predict what will happen if our schools are not opened immediately for five days a week: even more of our most-at-risk kids will be leaving school not with a diploma, but with a Glock.

Transgender Madness is Destroying Girls Sports

Making Sense By Michael Reagan

It’s not right.

It’s not fair.

And, on top of all that, President Biden’s executive order allowing transgender males to compete against girls is going to destroy girls sports in America.

Almost every one of Biden’s many executive orders to date is going to be harmful in some way to our security, our battered economy, or both.

Closing the Keystone Pipeline, stopping construction of the border wall and raising the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour are a few of his terrible mistakes that come to mind.

But the worst order Biden signed was the one saying biological males who have transitioned to females should be allowed to play on high school and college girls sports teams.

It was a dumb, divisive and arrogant order for a unity president to make.

We know presidents resort to using executive orders when they can’t get the stuff they want through Congress. To paraphrase President Biden, they get to play dictator – which he did.

Republicans in Congress have barely made a peep about Biden’s terrible executive order, but do you know who the most conspicuously absent critics of this transgender madness are?

America’s fathers.

Where are they?

Where are the fathers who are willing to stand up and fight for their daughters to be able to compete in school sports with other girls?

So far they’re AWOL.

But unless millions of fathers – and mothers – unite in their anger, in five years there’s liable to be no female sports at all in our public high schools or colleges.

What sane young girl is going to want to get deeply involved in a sport like swimming when she sees that transgender women are unfairly dominating it?

There can’t be 5 percent of the American population who honestly thinks it is fair for a law that allows biological boys to be able to compete against girls in sports like basketball, track, soccer, swimming, golf and tennis.

Everyone knows boys have more muscle mass and a larger bone structure than girls.

And even when boys take drugs to reduce their testosterone levels and wait a year before they begin competing as a transgender girl, they still have physical advantages that even the strongest, best-trained girls can never overcome.

But of course these inconvenient biological realities don’t mean a thing to the liberal media pundits, feminists, the ACLU and so-called progressive politicians in Washington.

They applauded Biden’s transgender executive order like a North Korean stadium card section because they agree that it is “fair” or because they’re afraid of being attacked or shamed on Twitter.

For some reason, “progressives” see no problem, no inequity, no glaring stupidity in asking girls to run the 100-meter dash or play soccer against transgender women with the physical assets of someone like, say, Caitlyn Jenner.

Bruce Jenner was an Olympic gold-medal winner as a man and is now Caitlyn, the world’s most famous transgender woman.

She’s 6-5, weighs about 250, wears Size 13 shoes and at 71 can still drive a golf ball farther than most of the people running the House or Senate can walk.

Do you think a teen-age version of someone like Caitlyn might be the dominant player at your state girls high school track tournament?

The transgender insanity Biden wants to impose on the entire country is already a reality in Connecticut, where a few years ago two transgender athletes racked up 15 women’s state championship titles – and deprived a lot of girls of any chance to win their titles and earn scholarships to college.

Connecticut’s transgender policy is still in the courts. But maybe, if we’re lucky, the U.S. Supreme Court will eventually bring common sense back to the upside-down world of boys and girls sports.

It’s a Scary Time for Conservatives

Making Sense By Michael Reagan

We had President Trump for four years.

I already feel like we’ve had President Biden for eight.

There were many reasons for not liking Trump or the way he did things.

But at least he was an optimist. At least he saw the sun coming up every morning.

Biden sees every new dawn as the beginning of another dark and troubled day that only he and government intervention of the worst Democrat kind can make better.

Taking us back to the Jimmy Carter days of national malaise and pessimism, he keeps warning us about 100,000 more COVID-19 deaths in the next 30 days, years of mask mandates and the existential threat to the planet from climate change.

The only people happy with Biden’s daily message of gloom and doom are the lefty Democrats in Congress who control him and his soulmates in the friendly liberal media.

MSNBC, CNN, New York Times columnists, Rachel Maddow, the Joe McCarthy of our age, and their “progressive” pals are thrilled with Biden.

That’s because he’s spent the first days of his reign signing 40 executive orders designed to destroy or hobble the oil and gas industry, dismantle Trump’s tough immigration policies and make racial and sexual equity (not equality) the main mission of the newly “woked up” federal government.

For the last four years Maddow and lefty Democrats like her in the media have accused Trump of being a dictator at least ten times a day.

But they apparently haven’t noticed yet that Joe Biden has been signing executive decrees like Joe Stalin on speed and plans to keep 5,000 armed National Guard troops on the streets of Washington until March.

Can you imagine how loudly Maddow, Chuck Todd and the hypocritical civil libertarians at the New York Times editorial page would have howled if Trump had brought 15,000 armed troops into D.C. for any reason – including a parade?

He sent a few busloads of soldiers to protect a federal courthouse in Seattle from being torched by rioters last year and he was called Hitler Junior.

Maddow and her fellow travelers in and out of government see right wing domestic terrorists hiding under every other deplorable bed between Manhattan and Hollywood.

Some of them are openly calling conservative Republicans, Trump supporters, Christians and even libertarians “domestic terrorists” and suggesting that they need to be deprogrammed in reeducation camps or denied jobs or government contracts based on their political beliefs.

On Wednesday the country got an alert from Biden’s Department of Homeland Security that said there was a rising threat of domestic terrorism across the country from extremists “emboldened” by the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

The DHS didn’t name names, but everyone knows its terrorism alert was referring to conservatives and Trump supporters.

But come on, man!

Everyone on the right except some crazies with horns on their helmets has decried what happened at the Capitol.

Republicans and conservatives across the country are not fomenting violence or planning an insurrection, and never were, despite what Professor Maddow thinks.

But that doesn’t matter.

If you voted for Trump, you’re now looked at and treated like a potential domestic terrorist by the government, the liberal media and institutions like Facebook and Harvard.

If you say the wrong political thing in public or on Facebook, or if your neighbor or student rats you out, you might end up having your diploma rescinded, being censored or de-platformed by Twitter, losing your job or not being hired in the first place.

While the dishonest media treat Biden like a fragile flower and cheer-lead for his resurrection of some of President Obama’s worst policies, it’s become a very scary time to be a conservative, a Trump supporter, a Christian or plain old Republican in Joe Biden’s un-unified America.

America’s federal government has essentially become a one-party state and it, the media and Big Business are all on the same dangerous progressive page.

I don’t know about you, but as I watch a “moderate” president taking us farther down the road to socialism – and serfdom – I’m afraid for the future of America.

With President Joe, It’s Divided We Stand

Making Sense By Michael Reagan

Everyone agreed the inauguration ceremony was nice.

Lady Gaga was Lady Gaga. Garth Brooks was Garth Brooks.

Everyone also agreed President Joe Biden’s speech was nice.

Nothing plagiarized. Nothing too fancy. Nothing that presidential historians will be quoting a month from now.

Biden’s call for national unity and political healing was widely praised by Democrats, the mainstream Democrat media and even some easily impressed Republicans.

But what did our new unifier-in-chief do as soon as he got control of the presidential pen?

Keeping his campaign promises, the born-again progressive kicked off his plan to reverse President Trump’s “America First” direction and turn back the country to Obama-style open-borders and an economic policy that benefits Communist China and globalists.

Biden signed 17 executive orders on Wednesday and another 10 on Thursday. If they’re not reversed by Congress or the courts, they are sure to hurt America and its people.

They will kill thousands of energy jobs in the Heartland, reopen our borders to waves of illegal immigrants and again subject us to the rules of the incompetent and corrupt World Health Organization and harmful international agreements like the Paris Climate Accord.

By his edicts on Wednesday, Biden immediately showed that when it comes to fostering national unity and building American back better, he’s all talk and no walk.

Biden Logic is, to put it mildly, more like Biden Madness.

In a country with millions of people out of work, he stopped construction of the Keystone XL pipeline from Canada – and put 11,000 high-paid construction workers out of work.

With a caravan of 10,000 Nicaraguan and Guatemalan migrants already on its way to the Texas border, he halted the building of the wall.

With the COVID-19 pandemic still raging in the United States, he’s ready to greet thousands of illegal – and un-vaccinated – immigrants at our border with open arms and hugs.

And out here in California, where 3 million of the country’s 12-plus million illegal immigrants already live, our streets are certain to be made more dangerous because of his decision not to deport illegal aliens – including criminal ones – for 100 days.

So thanks, President Joe. Way to put the good of the country above partisan politics.

In just two days you pleased both your leftist supporters who hate ICE and your party’s environmental wacko wing.

It doesn’t matter, I guess, that in the long run your new rules will shred our improved immigration system and endanger America’s energy independence.

Or that they will hurt Canada’s energy-based economy and help our competitors in the global oil and gas industry.

Good thinking, President Joe. You made 75 million Americans mad at you, but the liberal media are united.

They’re loving every one of your executive decisions. CNN is so happy they can’t stop slobbering over you and First Lady Jill.

In fact, they praised “Doctor” Jill for bringing class back to the White House after an absence of four years.

It’s fine to praise Jill Biden. But what did Melania Trump do to deserve that last-minute cheap shot?

She only speaks five languages, came to America with nothing and ended up living in the White House.

In a fair and decent world, that’s the definition of the American Dream.

But for the last four years the biased and nasty liberal media – from CNN to the editors of the New York Times and Vogue – were incapable of praising her even for her looks.

They hated on her or ignored her every day for one obvious reason: she married the wrong man.

For the next four years, with Biden or Kamala Harris in charge and the country divided 50-50, the media and their journalists are going to have a really tough time hiding their partisan biases and dishonesty.

When a Covid-20 virus comes over from China, or when the Biden administration throws the economy into a ditch, gets caught in bed with China or drags us into a war in Syria, who is the media going to blame?

With Donald Trump out of power and living in Florida, it’s going to have to be the Russians.
