Four NASA astronauts made history this week, traveling around the the moon and further away from Earth than any other humans have ever trekked.
While on the dark side of the moon, the astronauts temporarily lost all communication. Must’ve been nice to avoid the bad news back home.
That’s essentially the gist of John Darkow’s popular cartoon, our most-reprinted this week. He drew on the extensional dread those poor adventurers must have felt knowing they had to return to the chaos back on Earth.
Jeff Koterba made a similar point with his popular cartoon about the Artemis II mission, though he framed it around a small child focused more on the nightmares here on Earth. We all are kid, we all are.
